Humble Bundle is offering a selection of books from Angry Robot, featuring a variety of science fiction and fantasy titles. Personally, I’m not familiar with any of the stories of the authors, although I have at least seen The Lives of Tao (included in this bundle) around. Regardless of my familiarity, these titles appear to be different enough to be interesting, if only for the sake of variety and novelty, and thus may be worth checking out. Several of them appear to be paranormal or steampunk mysteries of one sort or another, which could be quite enjoyable.

Strong female protagonists? Check. Geekiness in abundance? Check. Humble Bundle’s newest offering features the best of this powerhouse combination, with a good selection of geeky graphic novels with some great female leads. More of a starter set than a library builder, this bundle includes the first volumes of a number of series rather than multiple volumes of any one series–which gives a great chance to try a number of different stories to see what’s interesting. In addition, this bundle includes some non-fiction including some random volumes on wearable tech, a book of geeky lifehacks, and (possibly the most exciting to me) the anthology The Secret Loves of Geek Girls. All in all, it looks like a fun mix and well worth trying.

Surprisingly, despite its overwhelming popularity over the past few years, I have never read any of Hajime Isayama’s iconic Attack on Titan manga. Seems like a good time to change that, however, as Humble Bundle is offering an extensive chunk of this ‘verse’s manga for basically the usual price of two volumes. Included in this bundle are the first 22 volumes of the main manga, as well as a sampling of volumes from Lost Girls, No Regrets, Before the Fall, Junior High, and Spoof on Titan. Plus an artbook, for good measure.

For anyone who’s interested, Humble Bundle currently has a graphic novel bundle that looks potentially interesting. I’m not really that familiar with any of the titles, but some of them look like they have potential. In any case, they’re supposedly “fan favorites,” for what that’s worth. Also, Humble Bundle is having their big Winter Sale in the Humble Store, so there are a lot of games on sale there that might be worth checking out.
For anyone who’s interested, Humble Bundle currently has a collection of sci-fi and fantasy novels available in one of their bundles. Probably the most enticing part of this set for myself is all five of Patricia Wrede’s Lyra books, none of which I’ve had a chance to read before. Other highlights include Ursula Le Guin’s Changing Planes and Octavia Butler’s Seed to Harvest series, although there are several other stories that, while I am unfamiliar or only marginally familiar with the authors, look quite fascinating.

Just an FYI, for those of you who enjoy visual novels, Humble Bundle currently has a pretty nice bundle of them for a decent price ($10 for the entire thing). Looks like it’s got some variety–horror, tourism, looks like some slightly ecchi idol ones, and even one that looks like a nostalgic/romantic shoujo ai one. Honestly, I’m not at all familiar with most of these games, so I can’t vouch for how good they are, though some definitely look interesting. Probably the biggest selling point of this bundle is its inclusion of the first five Higurashi When They Cry sound novels–which, frankly, is enough to be worth buying this bundle in its own right. Because, let’s face it, those games are classic.

So, this is exactly what it sounds like. Humble Bundle is offering a book bundle from Night Shade Books featuring books from a variety of genres ranging from sci-fi to horror to fantasy to maybe even a little mystery. Included are a few “best-of” short story collections as well as a number of longer novels. I’m not personally familiar with a lot of the authors, although there is a collection of Paolo Bacigalupi short stories. They claim the featured authors include names like George R. R. Martin, Neil Gaiman, Jane Yolen, and Orson Scott Card–I’m guessing in the short story collections. The full-length novels are mostly by authors I don’t recognize, but i looks like an interesting group of books.
